designer butterfly

I view design as a challenge, like solving a puzzle with multiple solutions, but only the perfect answer will please both client and designer with form and function.

I knew design was my passion as early as sixth grade. I was asked to make my cousin’s birth announcement. From that moment, I was hooked. Ever since, I capitalized on every opportunity to design anything.

Born into a family of artists, design came naturally. I grew up working with ceramics, stained glass, carpentry, carving and painting. My father was the first to make a career of design in architecture, but 3D was not the ideal fit. Typography, however, enthralled me.

Keep it simple. That is my motto. It applies to every aspect of my life, including my designs. Everything should have a purpose or reason and nothing is just left to accident or coincident. This inspiration comes from the ultimate designer of my life, Jesus Christ, who perfectly designed and created everything.

My design inspiration is supported with thorough research. I have found that even a basic definition can provide revelations in my work. Design is unique in that it encompasses all of life’s disciplines.

I design the way I live: inspired, researched and simple.

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. Maya Angelou
